Baseball Splits Two with Roger Williams

Winter Haven, Fla. – The Framingham State University baseball team opened play this afternoon at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational splitting a pair of game with Roger Williams University.  The Rams won the opening game 10-4 before falling in game two 4-2.

The Rams were led in game one by senior outfielder Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.) who drove in four runs on 2-of-4 including a double at the plate.  Junior catcher Anthony Iafolla (Medfield, Mass.) also picked up a pair of hits, scored a pair of runs and drove in two, while senior Justin Forman (Watertown, Mass.) and sophomore Matt Gerard (Milford, Mass.) each picked up three hits in the game.

Junior Matt DiCato (Winthrop, Mass.) went the distance on the mound to pick up his first victory of the season as he allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts and four walks.

In game two, sophomore Ryan Bowen (Hudson, Mass.) picked up the loss on the hill tossing five innings and allowing four runs, all earned, on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts.  Sophomore Kevin Valley (Burlington, Mass.) worked an inning of scoreless relief.

Crofton, Gerard and Forman led the Rams at the plate picking up two hits apiece, while junior Matt ROberge (Lowell, Mass.) and freshman Austin Teal (Malden, Mass.) each picked up a hit.  Team picked up the Rams lone RBI in the game.
