Baseball Defeated Twice by Endicott

Winter Haven, Fla.   – The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated twice today at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational by Endicott College.  The Rams, who are now 2-6 on the year, were defeated in the opening game by a score of 8-5 and by a score of 10-3 in the second.

In game one, the Rams starter Matthew Magazine (Marlboro, Mass.) surrendered five runs in the bottom of the first as he went the distance allowing eight runs, six earned, on ten hits with four strikeouts.

The Rams battled back with two runs in the second inning including a solo homerun by freshman Matt Roberge (Lowell, Mass.) and two runs in the third on a two run homer by sophomore Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.).

Endicott added two more runs and the Rams added solo run in the sixth inning to reach the final margin of 8-5.  Roberge and Crofton each went 1-for-3 in the game with a homerun.

In the second game starting pitcher Jimmy Borden (Lexington, Mass.) gave up 10 runs, five earned, in 2 innings of work as the Gulls capitalized on three Framingham State fielding errors to open up a commanding lead.

Junior Jason Hitchinson (Kingston, Mass.) came on to pitch three innings of scoreless relief and senior Danny Rivkin (Enfield, Conn.) was able to close the game with two scoreless innings on the mound.

The Rams, who only had five hits in the game, were led at the plate by Roberge who again went 1-for-3 scoring a pair of runs scored, while senior Danny Chaisson (Watertown, Mass.) drove in a run with an RBI double.

The Rams close out their spring training trip tomorrow with a double header against St. Joseph's College (ME).
