Baseball Downs Oneonta State 6-5

Winter Haven, Fla.   – The Framingham State University baseball team won their second game in a row after defeating Oneonta State by a score of 6-5 today at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.  With the win the Rams even their record at 2-2 on the year.

Freshman Matthew DiCato (Winthrop, Mass.) hurled a gem in his first collegiate start tossing eight innings and surrendering two runs, both earned, on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks.  DiCato retired 18 batters in a row from the third inning until the ninth.

Trailing 2-1 the Rams scored five runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good.  Junior Chris Blydell (Lynn, Mass.) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI, while sophomore Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up a pair of hits and a pair of RBI.  Senior Sean Callahan (Watertown, Mass.) drove in two runs on an RBI double.

The Rams surrendered three runs in the top of the ninth inning to make the score 6-5, but freshman Tony Iafolla (Medfield, Mass.) came on to record the final out to pick up his first save of the season. 

The Rams return to action tomorrow as with a doubleheader against Bowdoin beginning at 1:30 p.m.
