Baseball Splits Two with Daniel Webster

Winter Haven, Fla.   – The Framingham State University baseball team split two games with Daniel Webster College this afternoon at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.  The Rams dropped the opener 3-2 and won the second 11-2 to improve to 1-2 on the year.

Trailing 1-0 after four, the Rams scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.  Junior Chris Blydell (Lynn, Mass.), who went 1-for-3 in the game, doubled home a run and senior Corey Ketterer (Plymouth, Mass.), who also went 1-for-3, singled home the other.

The Rams lead would be short lived as DWC scored two in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead for good, 3-2. 

Junior Ryan Stoller (Milton, Mass.) went the distance on the mound for the Rams allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk.

In the second game, Daniel Webster scored an unearned run in the first off senior Tommy Lindberg (Stratford, Conn.) to take the early lead.

The Rams took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on RBI doubles by Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Ketterer and then blew the game open with five in the bottom of the third.  Danny Chaisson (Watertown, Mass.) and Ketterer each knocked in a pair with RBI singles and senior Joe Sheehan (Burlington, Mass.) drove in a single run.

Lindberg picked up the win going five innings allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts.  Jimmy Borden (Lexington, Mass.) pitched two innings of scoreless relief surrendering a single hit.

Blydell went 3-for-4 in the game with three runs scored, while Ketterer picked up three hits and three RBI.  Chaisson finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI.

The Rams return to action tomorrow as they face Oneonta State at 9:30 a.m.
