Callahan Joins NECBL’s North Shore Navigators

Framingham, Mass. — Framingham State College junior catcher Sean Callahan (Watertown, Mass.) has signed a 10-day contract with the North Shore Navigators of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The Navigators play their home games at Fraser Field in Lynn.

“It is an honor to be asked to play in this league and I can’t wait to get started,” said Callahan, who was a second team All-MASCAC selection in 2010.

This season Callahan hit .323 with eight doubles, 35 RBI and five homeruns including two walk off homers.  His first was a grand slam that lifted the Rams to a win over Eastern Nazarene and the second lifted the Rams to a key conference win over Fitchburg State.  He led the Rams defense with a .994 fielding percentage.

In 2010 the Rams recorded their best record in over a decade (24-18) and set a new school record for victories in a season.  Callahan was a major part of the Rams success this season as they finished second in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) with an 11-3 conference record and hosted their first home playoff game.  They were also selected to the ECAC New England Baseball Championship Tournament for the first time since 1998 and advanced to the semifinals.

Framingham State College third year baseball coach Brian Blumsack was pleased that Callahan was invited to play for the Navigators. “Sean enjoyed a great junior year for us and has really worked hard to develop himself into an All-Conference player. I’m excited for him that he will get the opportunity to compete against some of the very best college talent from across the country,” said Blumsack.

The NECBL is one of the premier collegiate summer leagues in the country and the Navigators feature players on their roster from the top Division I, II and III programs around the nation.
