Westfield, Mass. — The second seed Framingham State College baseball team was eliminated from the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) baseball tournament today with a 14-7 loss to fourth seed Bridgewater State in a loser’s bracket game played this morning at Westfield State’s Alumni Field.  With the loss the Rams are now 23-17 on the season and await a possible bid to the ECAC Tournament which will be announced on Monday, while the Bears advance in the MASCAC tournament and will face the loser of the Westfield State-Worcester State game later this afternoon.

The Rams committed five errors in the game which proved to be the difference in the game as they led to eight unearned for the Bears.  Framingham State starting pitcher Tommy Lindberg (Stratford, Conn.), who is now 5-2, picked up the loss as he went 5/1 innings allowing nine runs, two earned, on ten hits with a strikeout and a walk.

Bridgewater State took a four run lead in the bottom of the second as they capitalized on a pair of FSC errors.  Second baseman Tyler Dennis (Stoughton, Mass.) provided the big blow in the inning – a three run double to center.

The Rams answered with two in the bottom of the inning as first baseman Danny Chaisson (Watertown, Mass.) hit a solo homerun to left center and shortstop Justin Wojcik (Dracut, Mass.) drove in the other with a single up the middle.

Bridgewater State added three more in the top of the fourth as they again capitalized on fielding miscues by the Rams to take a 7-2 lead.  The Rams added a single run in the fourth as Chaisson, who reached on an error, scored on a double play and two runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Chaisson and Joe Sheehan (Burlington, Mass.) to make the score 7-5.

In the sixth, Dennis belted a two-run homerun to put the Bears back up by four and drive Lindberg from the game.  Mike Cain (Gloucester, Mass.) came on in relief and pitched a scoreless seventh.

The Rams tacked on two more in the bottom of the seventh on Chaisson’s second homerun of the game that made the score 9-7.

Bridgewater State would add three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to open up a seven run cushion.  Jim Balboni picked up the win for the Bears and improves his record to 7-1 as he went 6.1 innings allowing seven runs on then hits with four walks.  Jonathan Surrette pitched 2.2 innings of relief and did not allow a hit or a run.
