Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Mass. Maritime

Buzzards Bay, MA - Massachusetts Maritime Academy (15-11, 4-4 MASCAC) scored in the first inning Saturday, but couldn't hold off Framingham State (5-18, 2-8 MASCAC) as the Rams claimed a 6-4 victory. The Buccaneers bounced back in the second game to split the series with a 7-1 win.

Sean Tupper (Marlboro, MA) picked up the win for the Rams in the opener in six and a third innings of work, allowing four runs on 10 hits, while striking out six. Freshman Kevin Loveless (Wakefield, MA) pitched the final two innings.

Billy Martin (Virginia Beach, VA) took the loss for MMA in a complete game effort, allowing just three earned runs and striking out six.

Tied at 1-1 in the top of the fifth, FSC broke it open scoring five times.

Steven Tramontozzi (Watertown, MA) led the Rams at the plate finishing the day 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Alex Foley (Andover, MA) was 3-for-3 for the Bucs.

In the second game David Hike (Riverview, FL) picked up the win for MMA in six innings of work, allowing one run on seven hits, while striking out eight. Nick Levitre (Grafton, MA) pitched the final frame in relief. Matt Nicholson (Watertown, MA) was tagged with the loss for FSC.

 

The Buccaneers scored four runs in the second and added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth. The Rams tallied their lone run in the top of the fourth.

 

Foley continued his hot hitting into game two for the Buccaneers going 3-for-4 with two RBI. A.J. Garstang (Southington, CT) was a perfect 2-for-2, with two runs scored and an RBI.

 

Joe Sheehan (Burlington, MA) and Daniel Ritchie (Brockton, MA) each finished the second game 2-for-3.
