Bio

Framingham State University Director of Athletics Tom Kelley is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott VanderMolen in a full-time role as a Staff Assistant, Head Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Coach and Head Coach of the Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Program.

“We are thrilled to have Scott join us in a full-time role and lead the cross country and newly formed women’s outdoor track program.” said Kelley. “Scott has tremendous knowledge about running and track and field and he will be key in guiding the program from a club sport to a varsity team.”

VanderMolen has served as the head coach of the two cross country programs for the past five years in a part-time capacity. VanderMolen will guide the women’s outdoor track program during the transition from a club sport in the spring of 2018 to a varsity program in the spring of 2019.

Among his other duties with the Athletic Department, VanderMolen will oversee FSU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Prior to joining the Rams coaching staff in 2013, VanderMolen was a coach with the Elms College cross country program and worked with the Tully High School track and field program.  A New York native, VanderMolen ran cross country and competed in track and field for the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he earned All-Conference honors in the A-10.
