Women's Lacrosse and Softball to Compete in this Week’s MASCAC Tournaments

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse and softball teams have all qualified for their respective Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournaments that will take place this week.

Women's lacrosse finished the regular season in second place with an overall record of 9-7 and a 6-1 mark in league play.

As the number two seed, the Rams earn a first round bye and will host the winner of the #3 Worcester State/#6 Mass. Maritime quarterfinal in one semifinal on Thursday, May 5th. The game will be played at Maple Street Field with a 7 p.m. start.

Top seed Westfield State will host the winner of the #4 Bridgewater State/#5 Salem State quarterfinal in the other semifinal on Thursday.  The quarterfinal games will be played on Tuesday and the winner of the two semifinals will meet on Saturday at the highest remaining seed. The winner of Saturday's final receives the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships.

The softball team finished the regular season tied for third in the MASCAC standings and by virtue of the conference tiebreaker policy will be the fourth seed in this week's MASCAC Softball Championship.  The Rams finished the regular season 18-16 overall and 10-4 in the MASCAC.

The Rams will host fifth seed Fitchburg State on Tuesday, May 4th in an opening round elimination game. The game will be played at Maple Street Field with a 4 p.m. first pitch. The winner will advance to face top seed Bridgewater State on Thursday in Bridgewater.

Third seed Westfield State will host sixth seed Salem State on Tuesday in the other opening round elimination game. The winner of that match up moves on to face second seed Worcester State on Thursday.

The double elimination portion of the tournament begins on Thursday and concludes on Saturday and Sunday at top seed Bridgewater State. The winner of the 2022 MASCAC Softball Tournament will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
