Rackliffe Selected as Framingham State and MASCAC Nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year

Framingham, Mass. – Four year volleyball and women's basketball standout Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) has been selected as Framingham State University's and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's (MASCAC) nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

There are four pillars of the NCAA Woman of the Year Award – academics, athletics, service and leadership. This year there are 544 nominees from across all three divisions of the NCAA, the most in the history of the Woman of the Year program, including 198 nominees from Division III.

Rackliffe completed her four year volleyball and women's basketball career earlier this spring and was named the MASCAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.  Rackliffe graduated from Framingham State in May with a bachelor's degree in food science and chemistry with a minor in nutrition and a concentration in applied food science. She graduated with a 3.69 GPA, which is the average GPA this year for all nominees for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Rackliffe earned multiple honors in both women's basketball and volleyball during her four years including being named the MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016.  She was tabbed as both the MASCAC Volleyball and Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year after her freshman season in each sport in addition to being named the D3hoops.com Northeast Rookie of the Year after the 2013-14 season.  After her senior season in each sport, Rackliffe, a four time All-MASCAC selection in volleyball and a three time All-MASCAC selection for women's basketball, participated in the NEVO Senior All-Star game as well as the NEWBA Senior All-Star game.

Rackliffe finished her volleyball career with 1,781 career kills, a .301 hitting percentage and 368 career blocks including 168 solo blocks. As a senior, Rackliffe was recognized by AVCA on the Division III All-New England Team and as a Division III Honorable Mention All-America.  During her four seasons, the Rams won three MASCAC Tournament Titles, two MASCAC Regular Season Titles and made three appearances in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.

Rackliffe concluded her women's basketball career with 1,215 career points which places her fourth on the FSU all-time scoring list.  She collected 946 career rebounds, a school record 294 career blocks and 134 career steals.  Rackliffe holds four FSU women's basketball records including rebounds in a game (26), blocks in a game (9) and blocks in a season (92).  During Rackliffe's four seasons of women's basketball, the Rams captured a share of the 2013-14 MASCAC Regular Season title and made three appearances in the MASCAC Tournament Championship game.

In addition to her success on the court, Rackliffe excelled in the classroom being named to the Dean's List every semester and landing on the President's List multiple times.  As a two sport student-athlete, Rackliffe was named to the MASCAC All-Academic Team 11 times during her four years.

Rackliffe was also active in the community during her four years volunteering with the MetroWest Special Olympics.  Rackliffe coordinated the EPAL program with Framingham's Cameron Middle School in which FSU student-athletes served as EPALs to the middle school students.  She also worked with Guiding Eyes for the Blind fostering and training a German Shepard puppy that will eventually become a service dog.
