Volleyball Closes Action at Gordon Invitational with 3-0 Loss to Gordon

Wenham, Mass. - The Framingham State University volleyball team closed out the action at their slate at Gordon College Invitational this afternoon and were defeated 3-0 by host Fighting Scots in non-conference action at the Bennett Center.

THE BASICS:

- Score: The Rams were defeated by the Fighting Scots 25-14, 25-19 and 25-21. 

- Records: Framingham State (1-2), Gordon College (2-1)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Freshman Brandee Thomas (North Kingstown, RI) led the Rams with nine kills on 24 attempts with two digs.
  • Sophomores Grace Caughey (Mendon, Mass.) and Brandey Rodriguez (Lynn, Mass.) chopped in with five kills apiece, while Caughey added 10 defensive digs.
  • Senior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) collected 21 set assists, two aces and eight digs, while junior Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) chipped in two kills, two service aces and four digs.
  • Freshman Alyssa Cafarelli (Peoria, AZ) recorded 10 digs in the match.
  • Gordon was paced by 11 kills from Jamie Tafoya and 10 from Amanda Snyder.  Ashlyn Gergins chipped in with 35 set assists, while Jenny Curtiss led the defensive effort with 11 digs.

The Rams are back in action on Friday night, September 7th when they face Regis College at the Eastern Nazarene Invitational.
