Framingham, Mass.- The Roger Williams women's soccer team overcame an early Rams goal to defeat Framingham State by a score of 3-1 on a rainy Thursday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Rams opened the scoring in the fifth minute of play when Jasmine Lees (Middleboro, Mass.) tapped in her own rebound to take the early lead.
  • The Hawks answered in the 17th minute when Leah Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.).
  • The visitors took the lead in the 33rd minute when Kelly Yadoff (Wyckoff, NJ) finished a one-time pass from Morgan Snow (Rowley, Mass.) to send RWU up 2-1 at the half.
  • The Hawks seemed to have another score early in the 2nd but the goal was waved off after an offside call.
  • Sinead Hanley (Quincy, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal in the final minute to reach the final margin

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Morgan Strassburg (Longmeadow, Mass.) made seven saves in net for the Hawks while Madison Brown (Attleboro, Mass.) made 11 stops for the Rams.
  • The Hawks outshot the Rams by a 31-to-11 margin and were awarded 7 corner kicks to the Rams none.
