Offense Comes Alive in Women’s Soccer 6-0 Win Over Newbury

Brookline, Mass. – Framingham State freshman Ana Barretto (Marlborough, Mass.) scored three first half goals, including her first career goal in the Rams 6-0 win over Newbury College Thursday afternoon in Brookline.

Barretto scored her first goal in the 12th minute off a cross from Kaelen Larocque (Upton, Mass.). In the 37th minute Barretto struck for #2 on a header off a feed from Kayla Alstrom (Auburn, Mass.). Three minutes later Shelly Nardi (Williamsburg, Mass.) joined the party with help from Larocque. Barretto finished off her hat trick in the 41st minute to send they Rams into the half up 4-0.

Larocque and Almstrom both scored in the second half to reach the 6-0 margin. The Rams took an impressive 63 shots while holding the Nighthawks to just 4. 

Noelle Sass made a resounding 32 saves in net for the Newbury. Kirsten Hansen (Framingham, Mass.) turned away the only shot she faced in the win for the Rams.

The Rams return to action when they travel to Westfield State for MASCAC action on Saturday, September 16th.
