O’Day & Velozo Named All-Conference; Cunningham Rookie of the Year

Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State junior guard Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) and classmate Emily Velozo (Tewksbury, Mass.) have been named the 2018-19 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball All- MASCAC team and freshman point guard Liana Cunningham (Quincy, Mass.) has been chosen as the conference's Rookie of the Year as voted on by the coaches around the league. 

O'Day was selected to the first team for the second straight year after garnering MASCAC Player of the Year honors in 2017-18. This season O'Day was 4th in the MASCAC in points with 426 and 3rd in points per game with 17.8 playing and starting in 24 games for the Rams. Her 82% from the line was good for second in the league and her 44 treys was the six best in the MASCAC. O'Day had a season-high 34 points on 14-of-26 from the floor in a win over Fitchburg on January 5th.

Velozo had a breakout junior year earning second-team honors this winter. The junior started all 26 games for the Rams scoring 384 points was fifth best in the league. She shot an impressive 40-for-100 from long range and her 40% was ranked second in the conference. Velozo set a career high with 31 points on 13-of-23 from the field in a win over MCLA on February 16th.

Cunningham was named MASCAC Rookie of the Year after being honored by the conference as Rookie of the Week on four occasions this winter. Cunningham directed the Rams offense starting in all 26 games contributing 112 assists, good for 3rd in the conference. Her assist to turnover ratio of 1.4 was ninth in the league while her 44 steals were good for eighth. Cunningham had a career high ten assists in a win over Regis and registered nine assists on three different occasions.
