Panthers Skate by Ice Hockey in MASCAC Action
Framingham, Mass.- The Plymouth State men's ice hockey team defeated Framingham State by a score of 4-1 in MASCAC action Thursday evening at Loring Arena.
THE BASICS:
- Score: Plymouth State 4, Framingham State 1
- Records: Plymouth State (6-7-2, 6-1-1 MASCAC), Framingham State (1-12-1, 0-8-0 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Panthers sophomore Michael McPherson scored the Panthers first two goals in the first period to give them a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission. First in the fifth minute McPherson sent in a wrist shot from straight on after picking up a loose puck. In the final minute of the period he finished off a pass from Myles Abbate.
- The Rams got on the board midway through the 2nd when Jake Garman scored on the power play off a pass from Zach Bettmeng.
- The Panthers scored in the final second of the second period when JR Barone finished a one-time pass from Brett Backman to take a 3-1 lead into the third.
- The Panthers scored an insurance goal when Drake Longaker sent in a long strike from the top of the zone that clanged off the post and went in the net to reach the final margin.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Junior Jake Sabourin made 28 saves in the win for Plymouth while freshman Blake Carlson made 59 stops in net for the Rams.
- The Panthers outshot the Rams by a 63-to-29 margin.
- The visitors were 1-for-2 on the man advantage to the Rams 1-of-4.

Up next, the Panthers will host MASCAC opponent Westfield on Saturday beginning at 5pm.
Framingham will stay in MASCAC play as well, traveling to Worcester on Saturday for a 7:10 start with the Lancers.
