Assumption College Bests Ice Hockey

Worcester, Mass.- The Assumption Greyhounds exploded for six goals on 54 shots, including four second period goals, to defeat the Framingham St. Rams 6-1 on Tuesday night to earn a win in the team's first home game of the 2020 part of the season.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Six players scored for the Hounds with 10 assists awarded on the night. Devan Sheth led the team with three points (one goal, two assists) and was part of a four-goal second period for the Hounds, all coming within six minutes of each.
• Robert Roche opened scoring for the hosts about five minutes into the first period. The Rams would answer on the powerplay in the final moments of the first when Ryan Paul scored with help from Matthew Siegel and Kolton Smith.
• With the game tied at one, Dante Maribito began the scoring at the 12:14 mark. Just 20 seconds later, John Fine-Lease made it 3-1 on a nice goal while entering the offensive zone, flinging a shot only a couple feet in from the blue line into the back of the net. Sheth and William Smith scored within 49 seconds of each other at the 16:39 and 17:28 marks respectively to make it 5-1.
• Colin Philippon added an insurance goal at the 16:36 mark of the third while on the power play for his first goal of his collegiate career. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Assumption outshot the Rams 54-26, including 24-5 in the second period. Framingham St. went 1-for-6 while on the power play and the Hounds went 1-for-7.
• Sheth's three points gives him seven in his last three contests. After winning NE10 Player of the Week Honors last week, he now leads the team with 11 points and nine assists with two goals.
• Roche continued to dominate while on the ice, playing to a +3 rating. He is now +13 while on the ice for the year, which leads the NE10.
• David Zulauf made 25 saves on 26 shots and improved to 1-5-0 on the year. Greg Harney made 48 saves on 54 shots for the Rams but fell to 0-7-0.
