Football Picked to Repeat as MASCAC Champions

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University football team has been selected to finish first in the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Preseason Poll in voting conducted by league's coaches.

The 2018 MASCAC regular season champion Rams grabbed seven first place votes and 63 total points to secure the top spot.  Western Connecticut secured the remaining two first place votes and 53 total points to land in the second spot, while Bridgewater State grabbed third with 50 points.

Returning for the Rams this season on the offensive side of the ball is senior quarterback Adam Wojenski (Stratford, Conn.) who earned All-MASCAC first team honors in 2018 after leading the league in passing yards (2,529), passing yards per game (229.9) and touchdown passes (20).

Returning on the defensive side of the ball is defensive lineman Joshua Smiley (Springfield, Mass.) who was also a first team All-MASCAC selection in 2018 after registering 50 tackles, including 34 solo, with five sacks and 10.5 for a loss.

Rounding out the poll is Plymouth State in fourth with 44 points, UMass Dartmouth in fifth with 40 points and Westfield State in sixth with 26 points.  Fitchburg State, Massachusetts Maritime and Worcester State took seventh, eighth and ninth with 19, 16 and 13 points.

The Rams open the 2019 season at Endicott on Friday night at 7 p.m.
