Men's Cross Tabbed to Finish Seventh in MASCAC Pre-Season Poll

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's cross country team has been selected to finish seventh and the Owls of Westfield State University are the pre-season pick to win the 2012 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country championship in a vote of the league's coaches.

Defending champion Westfield State captured five first place votes to amass 61 points in this year's poll, while 2010 title holder Bridgewater State received the other three first place votes to collect 58 points for second place. Fitchburg State and Worcester State are next in third and fourth place with 49 and 38 points, respectively, while Massachusetts Maritime and Salem State follow in fifth and sixth place with respective totals of 31 and 24 points. Framingham State and MCLA round out this year's poll in seventh and eighth place with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sport of men's ice hockey.
