Women's Cross Country Opens 2023 Finishing First at Jim Sheehan Memorial XC Meet

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's cross country team begin the 2023 season this morning with a first-place finish at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet hosted by Fitchburg State University.  

THE BASICS:

- Location: Doyle Conservation – Leominster, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams claimed the top spot with a score of 21 and an average time of 22:53 for the 5K course through the Doyle Conservation area. The host Falcons took the second spot with 50 points, while Worcester State took third with 66. 

  • The Rams top finisher was first year Kate Buban who completed the course in second place with a time of 21:00.2 which was just 10 seconds behind race winner Skye Goba from Fitchburg State. 

  • The Rams trio of Meghan Johnston, Camille Carvalho and Kelsey Gendreau followed in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively with times of 22:16, 23:13 and 23:24. 

  • Leah Chace followed in eighth for the Rams at 24:33, while Gwen Madden Hannah Nilson and Camille Graffeo followed to round out the top 12 finishers in the race.

The Rams are back in action on September 16th when they travel to UMass Dartmouth.
