Women's Cross Country Places Third at 2022 Opening Meet

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's cross country team opened the season today with a third place finish at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State University. 

 

THE BASICS: 

-Meet: Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational 

- Location: Doyle Conservation Fitchburg, Mass.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams finished third overall with 48 points, behind second place Fitchburg State and first place UMass Dartmouth who had 44 and 41 points respectively. 

  • The Rams top finisher was Emily Newcomb who crossed the line in second place with a time of 21:53.8 which was just under a minute behind the winner Alexa VanVoorhis from UMass Dartmouth. 

  • Meghan Johnston was the second Rams to cross the line in seventh place with a time of 22:15.4 for the 5K course. 

  • Jemma DePasquale and Camille Carvalho were the next to complete the race in 11thand 12thwith times of 23:20 and 23:22. 

  • The Rams had four more Rams crossing the line to round out the top 20 finishers. Kelsey Gendreau and Leah Chace crossed at 23:53 and 24:00, while Amanda Bedard and Kate Simpson followed at 24:26 and 24:50. .
