Volleyball Drops Key MASCAC Five Set Match to Worcester State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University volleyball team took the first two sets before Worcester State tallied to take three straight and defeat the Rams 3-2 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Worcester State 3, Framingham State 2 (19-25, 23-25, 27-25, 26-24, 15-8) 

-Records: Framingham State (15-9, 3-3 MASCAC), Worcester State (12-13, 5-1 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams took a hard fought first set 25-19. In the second, the Rams fell behind early in the second set and rallied to take the frame 25-23. 

  • In the third and fourth, the Lancers rallied late for victories 27-25 and 26-24. In the fifth, the Lancers opened a 9-5 lead and extended it to 13-5 before securing the match. 

  • The Lancers were led by 17 kills from Cassidy D'Esposito, while Beatrice Gamboa-Estrella chipped in with 10 kills and 13 digs. 

  • Camryn Burgio led the back row effort with 25 defensive digs, while Angela Colonis chipped in with 23 digs. 

  • Hailey Sanders paced the Rams on the attack with 18 kills, while Anna Szymanski finished the match with a double double of 16 kills and 20 defensive digs. 

  • Natalie Reynolds chipped in with seven kills and 16 defensive digs, while Carly Beaulieu added 20 defensive digs and five aces. 

  • Anneli DiVirgilio finished the match with 12 digs and three aces, while Stella Bailey chipped in with 48 set assist.
