Volleyball Splits a Pair of Matches with Fitchburg State and UNE

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University volleyball team split a pair of matches this afternoon defeating Fitchburg State 3-0 in league action before falling 3-0 to the University of New England in a non-conference match at Logan Gymnasium.  UNE defeated Fitchburg State 3-0 in the day's other match.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Framingham 3, Fitchburg 0 

  • After falling behind early in the first set, the Rams cruised to the victory over the Falcons by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-12. 

  • Anna Szymanski paced the Rams with a double double of 14 kills on 31 attempts to go along with 10 digs. 

  • Natalie Reynolds finished the match with eight kills on her 15 swings, while Hailey Sanders added six kills on her 15 attempts. 

  • Mackenzie Heaney chipped in with 10 defensive digs and three service aces, while Stella Bailey finished the match with 28 set assists and five digs. 

  • The Falcons were paced by seven kills from Sanantha Mirra who also added seven digs in the contest. 

  • Stephanie Sardella chipped in with six kills and five digs, while Emily Gelinas finished the match with 14 assists and a pair of digs.    

UNE 3, Fitchburg 0 

  • The Nor'easters defeated the Falcons in the days second match by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-10. 

  • UNE was paced by nine kills and seven digs from Ellijah Hanley who also added three aces in the match. 

  • Viktoria Pavlyuk and Kendall Gallaugher chipped in with eight kills apiece, while Courtney McDermott tallied 23 set assists. 

  • The Falcons were led by eight kills and six digs from Mirra, while Sariah Dyer chipped in with five kills and a block.  

UNE 3, Framingham 0 

  • The Rams were defeated in the final match of the day by the Nor'easters by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-16. 

  • Szymanski paced the Rams with 12 kills on her 38 attempts and added eight digs. 

  • Bailey finished the match with 20 set assists and a pair of aces, while Carly Beaulieu led the back row with a team-best 12 digs. 

  • UNE was led by 10 kills and team-best 16 digs from Pavlyuk, while Hanley finished the day with 10 kills, four aces and four digs.
