Volleyball Topples Elms in Four Sets

Chicopee, Mass. - The Framingham State University volleyball team defeated Elms College 3-1 in a non-conference match this afternoon at the Maguire Center.

THE BASICS:

- Scores: Framingham State 3, Elms 1 (25-14, 26-24, 22-25, 25-12)

- Records: Framingham State (12-9), Elms (9-8)

Location:  Maguire Center – Chicopee, Mass.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • The Rams took the first set easily before narrowly edging the Blazers in the second set 26-24.  In the fourth, Elms pulled out a hard fought 25-22 frame, but the Rams closed the match with a convincing win in the final set.
  • The Rams were paced on the attack by eight kills and 10 digs from sophomore Brandee Thomas (North Kingstown, RI).
  • Freshman Hailey Sanders (Franklin, Mass.) and junior Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in seven kills apiece.
  • Sophomore Alyssa Cafarelli (Peoria, AZ) and senior Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) paced the defensive effort with 14 digs apiece, while junior Brenna Marquis (Coventry, Conn.) added 11.
  • Junior Morgan Failla (Providence, RI) chipped in with 29 set assists and eight digs.
