Volleyball Falls to Emerson and Connecticut College

Boston, Mass. - The Framingham State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this afternoon falling to host Emerson College 3-0 and Connecticut College 3-1 at a non-conference tri-match at the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Emerson 3, FSU 0

  • The Rams were defeated by Emerson College by scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 26-24.
  • Freshman Brandee Thomas (North Kingstown, RI) paced the Rams attack in the opening match.  Thomas recorded 15 kills on 32 attempts with just three errors for a .375 attack percentage.  Thomas also added three digs.
  • Senior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 19 set assists and eight digs, while freshman Alyssa Cafarelli (Peoria, AZ) added 12 defensive digs and three assists.
  • Junior Brenna Marquis (Coventry, Conn.) chipped in with 10 digs, while classmate Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) added three kills and nine digs.

FSU Conn. College

  • The Rams were defeated by Connecticut College by scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-23.
  • Thomas once again paced the Rams with 13 kills on 33 swings and a .212 attack percentage.
  • Fay had a solid match with eight kills, an ace and 13 digs, while Cafarelli added 11 digs and three service aces.
  • Sophomore Grace Caughey (Mendon, Mass.) added eight kills and seven digs in the match.

The Rams are back in action on Thursday evening when they travel to Newbury College for a non-conference match beginning at 7 p.m.
