Brinkman and Rodriguez Pace Volleyball in 3-0 Win over Emmanuel

Boston, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team received a combined 22 kills from freshmen Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY) and Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, Mass.) as the Rams defeated Emmanuel College 3-0 this evening in non-conference action on the Andy Yosinoff Court.

With the win, the Rams improve to 13-16 on the year, while the loss drops the Saints to 6-21 on the season.

The Rams earned the victory by set scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-15.

Brinkman paced the Rams attack with 12 kills on 30 attempts with just four errors for a .267 hitting percentage, while Rodriguez added 10 kills on 19 swings with two errors for an impressive .421 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) recorded seven kills with 14 digs, while senior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) added 14 digs.  Junior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 32 set assists and six digs, while sophomore Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, RI) added four kills and 10 digs.

The Rams close out the regular season on Saturday when they host MASCAC foe Westfield State at 11 a.m. in a match that will determine seeds in next week's MASCAC Tournament.  Joining the Rams and the Owls for a tri-match are the Blue of Wellesley College.
