Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match with Suffolk and St. Joe’s

Standish, ME – The Framingham State University volleyball team swept a non-conference tri-match this afternoon with Suffolk University and St. Joseph's College (ME). The Rams defeated Suffolk 3-0 and closed the day with a 3-1 victory over the host Monks.

With the victories, the Rams are now 12-16 on the year.

The Rams defeated Suffolk by scores of 25-6, 25-20 and 25-5.  The Rams were led on the attack in the match by freshman Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, Mass.) who had nine kills on 11 attempts to go along with three digs and a block.  Sophomore Alexandra Fish (Cranston, RI) added five kills and eight digs, while senior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) led the back row with 14 defensive digs.

In their second match of the day, the Rams defeated the Monks by scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-8.  The Rams were led by 14 kills from freshman Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY), while Rodriguez picked up 10 kills and four blocks.  Sophomore Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) recorded eight kills and 12 digs, while Anderson added 18 digs.  Junior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) contributed 35 set assists and 14 digs.

The Rams are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Emmanuel for a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
