Volleyball Defeats Anna Maria in Straight Sets

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team received a match-high 12 kills from freshman Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY) as the Rams defeated Anna Maria College 3-0 this evening non-conference action at the Athletic Center.

With the win, the Rams improve to 9-16 on the season, while the Amcats are now 4-17.

The Rams cruised to the victory by scores of 25-3, 25-11 and 25-12.

Brinkman paced the Rams attack with 12 kills on 28 attempts with just four errors for a .286 hitting percentage. She also recorded five digs in the match.  Sophomore Dierdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) was also solid for the Rams with nine kills on 13 attempts with a single error to go along with a match-high 14 defensive digs.  Junior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 22 sets assists, four digs and six service aces, while senior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) added eight digs and three aces.

The Amcats were led by six kills from senior Rebecca Foti (Bedford, NH).  Foti added 12 digs for the visitors.  Junior Sarah Lathrop (Waterford, Conn.) added four kills, three digs and three blocks for the Amcats who recorded six blocks in the match.  Junior Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass.) added 12 defensive digs, while senior Kerri Earle (Bethel, Conn.) added 10 assists.

The Rams are back in MASCAC action on Thursday night at Mass. Maritime beginning at 7 a.m., while the Amcats are back in action on Thursday night when they host Rivier at 7 p.m.
