Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Suffolk and Mount Ida

Boston, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches this afternoon by a score of 3-1 to Mount Ida College and Suffolk University at Regan Gymnasium on the campus of Suffolk University.

With the pair of losses, the Rams are now 4-14 on the season.

The Rams were defeated by Mount Ida in their first match of the day by scores of 25-21, 25-17, 18-25 and 25-20.

The Rams were led on the attack by 11 kills and three blocks from freshman Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY), while senior Casie Thurber (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in with six kills.

Sophomore Alexandra Fish added five kills and 10 digs, while junior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) recorded 28 set assists to go along with five digs. Senior defensive specialist Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) led the back row with 11 digs and three service aces.

In their second match, the Rams were defeated by Suffolk by scores of 25-20, 18-25, 25-19 and 25-19.

Brinkman once again led the attack with 15 kills on 48 attempts with just five errors for a .208 hitting percentage in the match.  Thurber once again was solid around the net with eight kills.

Anderson led the back row with a team-best 28 defensive digs, while Whalen recorded 28 assists and 16 digs with two aces.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Bridgewater State for a MASCAC match beginning at 6 p.m.
