Volleyball Drops a Pair of Matches to Salve Regina and RIC

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team was defeated in a pair of non-conference matches this afternoon at Rhode Island College with Salve Regina University. The Rams were defeated 3-0 by Salve in their first match of the day, before falling 3-0 to the Anchorwomen.

With the pair of losses, the Rams are now 1-5 on the young season.

The Rams were defeated by Salve Regina by scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-16.  The Rams were led by 11 digs and four kills from freshman Grace Caughey (Mendon, Mass.), while senior Casie Thurber (Springfield, Mass.) added four kills and two blocks. Senior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded six digs and two aces, while junior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 12 set assists.

The Rams fell in their second match of the day to Rhode Island College by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-9.  The Rams were paced by six kills from freshman Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, NY), while Anderson added 20 digs.    Freshman Abbie Badgett (Boston, Mass.) added five kills, while sophomore Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) added seven digs and an ace.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night when they host MCLA in the MASCAC opener for both schools.
