Volleyball Falls to Keene State and Emerson

Bristol, RI – The Framingham State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches this afternoon at day two of the Roger Williams Invitational. The Rams began the day with a 3-1 setback to Keene State College, before falling 3-1 to Emerson College.

The Rams (0-3) were defeated by the Owls by scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-12. In the match the Rams were paced by 11 kills from freshman Kelly Brinkman who hit .229 in the game with just three errors on 35 attempts.  Junior Mackenzie Whalen chipped in with 25 set assists and 11 digs, while senior Vicki Anderson added a team-best 12 defensive digs.

Against Emerson, the Rams once again were victorious in the opening set 25-20 before fall in three straight 25-21, 25-14 and 25-9.  Brinkman once again paced the offense with 12 kills, while classmate Brandey Rodriguez added nine.  Whalen recorded 29 set assists, while Anderson and sophomore Deirdre Fay chipped in with 21 digs apiece.

The Rams are back in action at home on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when those host Lesley University.
