Volleyball Finishes Unbeaten in the MASCAC with 3-2 Victory over Worcester

Worcester, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team wrapped up the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Regular Season Championship with a 3-2 victory over Worcester State University this morning at Lancer Gymnasium.  The Rams were defeated 3-2 by Rhode Island College.

The Rams move to 20-11 on the year and finish the season with a 6-0 mark in the MASCAC. The Rams will be the top seed in next week's MASCAC Championship Tournament and will host the semifinals and finals on November 5th.

The Rams dropped the first set 25-13 to the Lancers before taking the second 25-19. The Lancers rebounded for a 25-15 triumph in the third, but the Rams took the fourth 25-10 setting up a fifth set which the won 15-10.

The Rams were led by 24 kills, 20 digs and seven blocks from senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.), while freshman Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, NY) recorded a team-best 25 digs and five kills.  Junior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) added 20 digs, while sophomore Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 16 digs and 39 set assists.

The Lancers received 13 kills and 23 digs from Emily Carens, while Katrina Kangwijaya added 25 digs for the Lancers.

The Rams closed the regular season falling to RIC 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 24-26 and 15-6.

Rackliffe once again led the way with 22 kills and 18 digs, while freshman Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, RI) added 11 kills and nine digs.  Anderson chipped in with 26 digs, while Whalen recorded nine and 14 assists.
