Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match with Lasell and Emmanuel

Newton, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team swept a pair of non-conference matches this afternoon against Emmanuel College and Lasell College.  The Rams defeated both the Saints and the Lasers by scores of 3-1.

With the wins, the Rams improve to 15-9 on the season.

The Rams dropped the first set to Emmanuel 25-23 before storming back to take the final three by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16.

The Rams were led by seniors Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) who recorded double digit kills and assists.  Rackliffe led the way with 27 kills on 56 attempts with a .393 hitting percentage, while also collecting 18 digs and six blocks.  Wan recorded 11 kills with 14 digs and seven blocks, including three solo.  Junior Sarah Leonard (Southboro, Mass.) chipped in with 21 digs, while sophomore Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 44 set assists and 16 digs.

In their second match of the day against the host Lasers, the Rams once again dropped the first set, 25-22, but won three straight, 26-24, 25-22 and 25-14, to secure the win.

Rackliffe once again led the attack with 27 kills on 48 attempts for a .417 hitting percentage. Rackliffe also added 14 digs and five blocks.  Leonard was solid in the match with nine kills and 17 digs, while Whalen added 39 assists.

The Rams are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Salem State at 7:15 pm in a MASCAC contest.
