Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Victory over MCLA

North Adams, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action with a 3-0 road victory this evening over MCLA at the Amsler CC Gym.

With the win, the Rams improve to 13-9 on the year and are now alone atop the MASCAC standings at 4-0. The loss drops the Trailblazers to 10-13 overall and 1-2 in the MASCAC.

The Rams grabbed a large lead in the first set led by the strong play of senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and sophomore Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) as they cruised to a 25-15 opening frame win. The Rams closed the match winning the second and third sets 25-17 and 25-15.

Rackliffe paced the attack for the Rams with a match-best 16 kills and .394 hitting percentage, while senior Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) added eight kills and eight digs.  Whalen finished the match with 34 set assists and nine digs, while junior Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) and freshman Deirdre Fay added 12 digs apiece.

The Trailblazers were paced by Allison Clark's team high eight kills.  MCLA was hampered by 24 attack errors in the loss compared to just 11 for the Rams.  Michelle Laga was productive out of the libero spot collecting 14 digs while Clark added 10.  Beatrice Lechler would finish with 13 assists.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday with a non-conference tri-match at Lasell College with Emmanuel.
