Volleyball Defeats Wheaton 3-1 and Falls to MIT 3-0

Cambridge, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team split a pair of matches this afternoon with MIT and Wheaton. The Rams defeated Wheaton College 3-1, before falling to the host Engineers 3-0.

With the split, the Rams are now 11-6 on the year, while Wheaton falls to 8-11 and MIT improves to 15-3.

After dropping the first set 25-20, the Rams defeated the Lyons 25-17, 25-23 and 25-23 to secure the victory.  The Rams were led by the duo of seniors Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) and Alycia Rackliffe (Agawam, Mass.) who each recorded double digit kills and digs.  Rackliffe led the way with 13 kills, 11 digs and a pair of blocks, while Wan added 11 kills and 10 digs.  Junior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) led the back row effort with 14 digs, while sophomore Mackenzie Whalen chipped in with 34 set assists.

The Engineers defeated the Rams by scored of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-19.

Rackliffe once again led the offense with 15 kills and four digs, while Wan added seven kills and 13 digs.  Anderson recorded 10 digs, while junior Jocelyn Wilbur (Braintree, Mass.) added 11.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night against another NEWMAC opponent when they travel to Smith College at 7 pm.
