Volleyball Takes a Pair of Matches from Colby-Sawyer and Western New England

New London, N.H.  The Framingham State University volleyball team swept a non-conference tri-match this afternoon with host Colby-Sawyer College and Western New England University. The Rams won both matches by a score of 3-0.

With the wins, the Rams have won six straight and improve to 6-4 on the season, while Western New England is now 7-3 and the Chargers are 3-9.

The Rams defeated the Chargers 25-19, 25-22 and 25-21.  They were led by senior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) who led all players with a match-high 19 kills on 43 attempts for a .236 hitting percentage.  Rackliffe also added eight digs and a match-best five blocks. 

Junior Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) added eight kills and a match-high 23 digs, while sophomore setter Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 30 set assists and nine digs. Freshman Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, N.Y.) contributed 11 digs.

The Rams defeated Western New England by scored of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14.  Rackliffe once again paced the attack with nine kills and 10 digs, while Leonard added eight kills, eight digs and four service aces.  Whalen finished with 22 assists, four digs and a pair of aces, while junior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) and senior Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) added 10 digs apiece.

The Rams are back in action at home on Tuesday evening when they host Salve Regina in a non-conference match-up beginning at 7 p.m.
