Volleyball Falls to Wheaton and MIT

Norton, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team took to the road this afternoon for a non-conference tri-match against a pair of NEWMAC foes. The Rams were defeated 3-1 by MIT before falling 3-0 by the host Wheaton College Lyons.

The Rams took the first set from MIT 25-15, before the Engineer rallied to take the next three sets and secure the victory. Framingham State (13-4) was led by 12 kills from junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.).  Senior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) chipped in with eight kills and a team best 19 digs, while sophomore Jocelyn Wilbur (Braintree, Mass.) added 10 digs.

In their final match of the day against the Lyons the Rams were defeated 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20.  Rackliffe once again paced the attack with 14 kills, while sophomore Sarah Leonard (Southborough, Mass.) added four kills and 17 set assists.  Freshman Megan Leavens (Worcester, Mass.) led the defensive effort with eight digs.

The Rams are back in action at home on Tuesday evening when they host Emmanuel College at 7 p.m.
