Volleyball Takes a Pair of Matches at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

North Dartmouth, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team opened the 2015 season this afternoon with a pair of 3-0 victories at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.  The Rams defeated Daniel Webster College 3-0 in the opening match of the day and followed that up with a 3-0 victory over Regis College.

The Rams are now 2-0 on the year and are back in action tomorrow at 12 p.m. against Eastern Nazarene College and close out the tournament at 2 p.m. with a match against the host Corsairs.

The Rams defeated Regis, who had defeated UMass Dartmouth 3-2 earlier in the day, by scores of 25-23, 25-15 and 25-22.  Junior Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) paced the Rams with 10 kills, four digs and three blocks, while senior Annie DeLoid (Plymouth, Mass.) added nine kills.  Sophomore Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) led the way in the back row with 18 digs, while senior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) added 11.

In their first match of the day, the Rams downed Daniel Webster by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-10.  They were led by nine kills and 10 digs by Rackliffe, while DeLoid chipped in with six kills.  Sophomore Molly Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) picked up a team-high 18 assists, while Girard added 17 kills with Anderson picking up 14.
