Volleyball Goes 3-0 at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

North Dartmouth, Mass. – Led by Tournament Most Valuable Player freshman Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) the Framingham State University volleyball team went 3-0 en route to winning the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Volleyball Invitational on Saturday afternoon.  Senior Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) joined Rackliffe in earning all-tournament honors.

The Rams are now 4-0 on the year after defeating Regis College 3-0, Eastern Nazarene College 3-1 and the host Corsairs 3-0.

Framingham State defeated Regis by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.  Rackliffe led the Rams with 12 kills, two aces, five digs and two blocks, while Fernandes chipped in with 11 kills.  Freshman Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) had a solid match with eight kills, three aces, 12 digs and two blocks, while sophomore Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) added 13 digs.  Juniors Maribeth Martin (Barnstable, Mass.) and Morgan Drew (South Easton, Mass.) added 16 and 13 assists respectively.

In the day's second match, the Rams defeated Eastern Nazarene by scores of 26-28, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-22.  Rackliffe once again led the charge with 15 kills, eight digs and four blocks, while Wan and Girard each chipped in nine kills.  Wan filled the stat sheet with two aces, 16 digs and three blocks, while Martin contributed 19 assists.

The Rams closed the day with a straight set sweep of the hosts by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-22.  Rackliffe closed the day with 13 kills and three blocks, while Fernandes picked up nine kills.  Wan closed the day with a solid eight kill, 10 dig and two block performance, while Martin finished the day with 16 assists.

The Rams return to action on Thursday evening when they travel to Salve Regina for a non-conference match-up beginning at 7 p.m.
