Volleyball Splits with Lasell and Babson

Newton, Mass. – Babson College picked up a pair of wins in women's volleyball action, while Framingham State University earned a split and the hosts from Lasell College dropped both of their matches at a non-conference tri-match this afternoon.

Framingham defeated Lasell in the opener 3-0 by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-23. Babson then knocked off Framingham in three sets, 25-16, 25-19, and 25-15, before taking down the host Lasers 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-11. At the conclusion of the afternoon's volleyball action, Babson is 20-6 overall, while Framingham stands at 20-8 on the year and Lasell is 6-23.

The Rams reached the 20 win mark for the second time in three seasons and just the third time in program history.

 

Framingham vs. Lasell

Sara Biondo (Coventry, R.I.) led Lasell with a team-high five kills, with Alexis Chappell (Springfield, Mass.), Anna Feeter (Peterborough, N.H.), and Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, Mass.) each tallying four kills in a losing effort. Chappell and Biondo each finished with 10 digs on the match.

Junior Andressa Fernandes (Framingham, Mass.) posted a match-best nine kills to lead the way for the Rams, who also got seven kills from sophomore Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.). Sophomore Michelle DeJesus totaled a match-high 16 digs to help key the Framingham defensive effort.

 

Framingham vs. Babson

Krissy Robertson (Dedham, Mass.) and Alicia Wilde (Franklin, Mass.) each finished the day's second match with eight kills, while Mary Donahue (Braintree, Mass.) added six kills to help Babson earn the 3-0 straight set victory over Framingham State University. Kathleen Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) did a superb job orchestrating a balanced Babson attack, handing out 25 assists in the win.

Freshman Danielle Girard (Tivioli, N.Y.) topped the stat sheet for Framingham in the second match, finishing with nine kills, while Fernandes and Nee each finished with seven kills in the loss. Sophomore Morgan Drew (No. Easton, Mass.) posted a team high 16 assists for the Rams.

 

Babson vs. Lasell

Mary Donahue tallied a team-high nine kills for Babson in their 3-0 victory over Lasell, with Wilde and Robertson each finishing with seven kills. Babson held a big advantage in the service game, tallying 14 aces in the three set affair, including six by Kseniya Stepanova (Upland, Calif.).

Chappell posted a team-best seven kills in the match for Lasell, with Biondo adding five kills.

Babson will visit Coast Guard on Tuesday October 23rd for their next match, while Framingham hosts Salem State on Wednesday October 24th and Lasell will look to bounce back when they visit Brandeis on Friday October 26th.
