Volleyball Defeats Elms in Three Sets

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State College volleyball team defeated Elms College 3-0 tonight in non-conference women's volleyball action at Framingham's Athletic Center.  The Rams easily won the first two games 25-16 and 25-18 before rallying from behind to win the third set in dramatic fashion 28-26.

The Rams improve to 6-8 on the season, while the loss drops the Blazers to 2-10 on the year.

Junior outside hitter Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, Mass.) had an outstanding all around game as she led the team with a team-high 19 kills and a team-high 16 digs.  Classmate Lauren Kasischke (Methuen, Mass.) chipped in 13 digs, a team-high 15 service receptions and nine kills, while fellow junior Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, Mass.)  added 12 digs.

Freshmen Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) and Courtney Moylan (Bourne, Mass.) also turned in solid performances.  Friel picked up a game-high five blocks including a huge block on the final point of the match.  Moylan picked up 12 digs and 12 service receptions.

The Rams return to action on Thursday night as they host Emmanuel College at 7 p.m., while the Blazers host Mount Holyoke on Thursday at 7 p.m.
