Volleyball Goes 1-1 in Tri-Match at Emerson

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State College volleyball team went 1-1 at a tri-match at Emerson College with Newbury College this afternoon.  The Rams, who are now 5-8 on the season, lost the first match of the day to Emerson 3-0 by scores of 25-8, 25-13 and 25-21.  They beat Newbury 3-0 in the second match of the day by scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-15.  Emerson then defeated Newbury 3-0 in the final match of the day.

The Rams improve to 5-8 on the season with the split, while Emerson improves to 8-4 and Newbury falls to 4-7.

Against Emerson, the Rams were led by junior Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, Mass.) who picked up a team-high 10 kills in the match.  Freshman Meaghan Callahan (Bridgewater, Mass.) chipped in a team-high 13 assists, while junior Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, Mass.) added 14 kills and 13 receptions.  Classmate Lauren Kasischke (Methuen, Mass.) added nine digs and 17 service receptions for the Rams.

Trudeau picked up a game-high 17 kills in the Rams win over Newbury to go along with 11 digs and a block.  Goode chipped in 18 digs.  Freshmen Courtney Moylan (Bourne, Mass.) and Jackie Friel (Centerville, Mass.) had strong games against the Nighthawks.  Moylan chipped in 17 digs, while Friel had four kills and six blocks.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday as they host Elms at 6 p.m.
