Volleyball Downs St. Joseph's (CT) in Three Sets

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over the St. Joseph's (Conn.) Blue Jays in the season opener for both teams tonight at Framingham's Athletic and Recreation Center.  The Rams (1-0) won the three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-19.

The Rams were led by junior middle hitter Ashley Trudeau (Rockland, MA) who picked up a game high 12 kills, 12 digs and four aces in the match.  Junior libero Jessi Goode (Marston Mills, MA) had a solid game with 37 digs, 12 receptions and seven service points. 

Outside hitter Lauren Kasischke (Methuen, MA) chipped in five kills including the kill to win the first set.  Freshmen Camryn Maguire (Natick, MA) and Jackie Friel (Centerville, MA) contributed to the win in their first collegiate game.  Maguire picked up a game high 25 assists, while Friel added five kills.

The Rams return to action on Friday as they face Salve Regina at 4 p.m. in the Emerson/Wentworth Tournament, while the Blue Jays travel to MCLA for a tri-match with Eastern Nazarene beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
