Women’s Soccer Downed by Salem State in MASCAC Action

Framingham, Mass. The Framingham State women's soccer team was defeated in MASCAC action by a score of 2-1 by Salem State Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field 

THE BASICS: 

- Score:  Salem State 2, Framingham State 1 

- Records:Framingham State (1-5, 1-1 MASCAC), Salem State (2-5-1, 1-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Maple State Field Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Vikings open up scoring in the 16thminute when Savannah Scrodin cleaned up a rebound from a shot by Jenn Mitza.  

  • The Rams tied the score in the 61stminute when a Rams player was taken down in the box forcing a penalty kick. Hailey Baker tucked one inside the right post to put the Rams on the board.  

  • With about 14 minutes to go the Vikings were called for a foul five yard outside the box but the Rams' shot was saved.  

  • The Vikings took the lead in the 82ndminute when Mitza chipped in a corner kick from Sydney Durkin.  

  • The Rams had a look in front of the goal in the final moment but couldn't capitalize.   

  • Lily Pfefferle made four saves in the win for Salem. Jetta Oskirko made six stops in net for the Rams. 

  • The Vikings held a skim 12-to-11 advantage in shots on the afternoon.

The Rams return to the field on Wednesday, September 27th when they host Clark University at 4:30 pm. The Vikings play at Gordon on the same day at 7pm.
