Women’s Soccer Advances to MASCAC Semifinal in PKs

Framingham, Mass.– The fourth seeded Framingham State women's soccer team advanced to the 2021 MASCAC Women's Soccer semifinal game in penalty kicks over fifth seed Salem State Tuesday evening at Maple Street Field. After playing the full 110 minutes the Rams converted on their first four penalty kicks to secure their spot in the semifinals. 

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 0, Salem State 0 (FSU Advances in PKs 4-2) 

- Records:Framingham State (5-11-2), Salem State (4-12-1) 

- Location: Maple Street Field - Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a lot of back and forth play a Rams foul in the 79th minute set up just outside the box set up Brenna Paquette up for a great look that went just over the crossbar.  

  • In the final minute Salem's Jasmine Moran sent a great header toward goal that was saved by Jetta Oskirko to send the game to overtime.  

  • Early in the second overtime the Rams sent a long strike in toward goal that bounced around in front of goal but then cleared out of danger.  

  • In the 104th and 106th minute the Rams sent quality strikes towards the goal but were both saved by Lily Pfefferle. 

  • Oskirko made two saves in the match for the Rams.  

  • Pfefferle made four saves in the game for the Vikings. 

  • Jasmine LeesCalen Frongillo, Cathryn Cooney & Aurora Kilrain all converted on their PK chances for the Rams.  

  • Madison Pesce and Sydney Durkin converted their chances for the Vikings. Kaley Moran and Jill Tramondozzi were denied by strong goaltending by Oskiriko 

  • The Rams held a strong advantage in shots 22-to-6 but only put four shots on net in the contest. The Rams also had nine corner kicks to the Vikings four.

The Rams will travel to top seeded Westfield State for the MASCAC semifinal match on Friday at 7pm.
