Lesley Blanks Women’s Soccer; 3-0

Framingham, Mass.– The Lesley University women's soccer team defeated Framingham State by a score of 3-0 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After Rams starting keeper Sarah Lustic (Sandwich, Mass.) left with an injury in the opening minutes the Lynx capitalized with a goal in the 5th minute when Isabella Danna (Miami, FL) sent a long pass into the box that was chipped in by Macey Merlo (Clovis, CA) to take the early 1-0 lead.  

  • The Rams would keep the Lynx of the board the rest of the half despite Lesley outshooting the Rams 12-to-2 in the frame.  

  • The visitors scored an insurance goal in the 53rd minute when Juliana Rossini (Sonoma, CA) finished off a long lead pass from Calli Masters (West Linn, OR) to take a 2-0 lead.  

  • Lesley scored again in the 84th minute when Courtney McCluskey (Holladay, UT) converted with a helper from Rossini.  

  • Audrey Calhoun (Chapel Hill, NC) made two stops in net in the victory for the Lynx.  

  • Calen Frongillo (Franklin, Mass.) made five stops in goal for the Rams after starting the day in the field.  

  • Lesley outshot the Rams 22-to-3 in the game and were called for 12 of the 20 fouls on the day.  

UP NEXT: 

The Rams return to the field on Saturday when they host Mass Maritime at 11am. The Lynx travel to Eastern Naz for NECC action on the same day at 1pm.
