Women's Soccer Fourth Seed in MASCAC Tournament – Host Fifth Seed Salem State

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's soccer team has earned the fourth seed in the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Tournament.         

The Rams finished the 2018 regular season 5-11-1 overall and 4-3 in league play.  As the fourth seed, the Rams will host fifth seed Salem State University on Tuesday, October 30th at 7 p.m. at Maple Street Field.  The winner will advance to the semifinal round on Friday and face top seed Worcester State, who received a first round bye, in Worcester.

The Rams were led offensively this season by senior Kayla Almstrom (Auburn, Mass.) who has tallied three goals and two assists for eight points and freshman Olivia Mihalek (Northborough, Mass.) who also has eight points on the year on three goals and two helpers.

Rounding out the tournament field are third seed Westfield State and sixth seed Fitchburg State who meet in the other quarterfinal on Tuesday night. The winner of that match advances to face second seed Bridgewater State on Friday in the other semifinal.

The tournament concludes on Sunday when the winners of the two semifinals meet at the highest remaining seed. The winner of the tournament receives the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
