Women’s Soccer Battles Becker to 1-1 Double Overtime Draw

Leicester, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's soccer team battled Becker College to a 1-1 double overtime draw this afternoon in non-conference action at Alumni Field.

THE BASICS:

- Score:   Framingham State 1, Becker 1 (2 OT)

- Records: Framingham State (4-9-1), Becker College (9-5-3)

- Location:  Alumni Field - Leicester, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Becker sophomore midfielder Shannon Kelley (Bellingham, Mass. ) broke into the scoring column in the 13^th minute when she took a pass from senior forward Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) and caught the goalie out of position for her sixth goal of the season as the Hawks went up 1-0.
• Framingham State found the answer in the 28^th minute when senior midfielder Kayla Almstrom (Auburn, Mass.) sent a pass forward taken by junior midfielder Caitlyn Our (Barnstable, Mass.) who launched it into the bottom right corner for her third goal of the year to tie it at 1-1.
• The second half remained hotly contested, with both teams seeing their opportunities come up just short.
• With ten minutes left, McKissick put a beautiful cross in front of the net from the right side. Becker senior forward Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.) saw her shot fly over the crossbar. Then with four minutes left, Keith blasted a free kick from 35 yards out but it glanced off the crossbar as the game remained tied.
• The game remained ties at the end of regulation, and the teams headed into overtime.
• Becker outshot Framingham State 6-1 in the overtime sessions, but was unable to finish.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Total shots were 26-22 in favor of the Hawks.
• Becker freshman goalkeeper Lyndsey Cobb-Wilkins (Elmira, N.Y.) recorded 11 saves for the Hawks while Framingham State senior goalkeeper Jennifer Stevens (Hopkinton, Mass. ) tallied two stops in net playing the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Madison Brown (Attleboro, Mass. ) took over at halftime and played the rest of the way, recording five saves.   
• Corner kicks were 8-2 in Becker's favor.
