Women’s Soccer Wins in Overtime On Senior Day; Secures #4 Seed in MASCAC Tournament

Framingham, Mass.- Freshman Erin Angelillo (Southington, Conn.) headed in a cross from Jill Smith (Weymouth, Mass.) in the 96th minute to lead the Framingham State women's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime victory over MCLA on senior day at Maple Street Field. With the win the Rams improve to 7-10 with a 4-3 MASCAC record which secures them the #4 seed in the upcoming MASCAC Tournament next week. The Trailblazers fall to 3-9-4 and 1-5-1 in league play.

Prior to the contest the Rams honored their seven seniors playing in their final regular season game: Michaela Hyland (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Danielle Whall (Foxboro, Mass.), Meghan Kenny (Danvers, Mass.), Olivia Buonopane (Middleton, Mass.), Tess Gorman (Swampscott, Mass.), Angela Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) & Ashley Lees (Maynard, Mass.).

The Rams heavily outshot the visitors on the day registering 29 shots to the MCLA 5, including a 6-to-0 margin in the overtime period.

The Trailblazers best chance to score came back in the 26th minute when Rams keeper Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux (East Brookfield, Mass.) crashed the 2-on-1 chance the ball was played past her. Katie Mancini (Bellingham, Mass.) then took a shot toward the open net that was stopped by a Rams defender and cleared out of harms way.

Gagne- Lamoureux made two saves in net for the Rams while Megan Richardson (Adams, Mass.) turned away seven Rams shots for MCLA.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, November 1st when they host the 1st round of the 2016 MASCAC Tournament. The will face the fifth seed which is still to be determined.
