Second Half Surge Sends Lasell Past Women’s Soccer

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match with Lasell College by a score of 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field. With the win the Lasers improve to 15-2-1 and the Rams slip to 6-10.

The Lasers had a great opportunity to score in the opening minutes when Devon Day (Hartland, VT) chipped a ball past the crashing Rams keeper towards the net but was cleared away by a Rams defender right in front of the goal line.

The Lasers came out of the break with two quick goals in the 48th & and 50th minute. First, Megan Cullen (Amesbury, Mass.) scored her first of the day when she put in a rebounded shot from Erin Smith (Gorham, ME). Then Carly Zdanek (Newton, NJ) added to the lead with Erika Badger (Scituate, Mass.) being credit with an assist.

The Lasers extended their lead ten minutes later when Caitlin Rotonnelli (Meredith, NH) scored with Casey Meissner (Sandwich, Mass.) assisting. The visitors reached the 4-0 margin when Cullen and Totonnelli teamed up for their second of the night.

The Rams broke through in the 69th minute when Angela Pallotta (Sterling, Mass.) converted with Tess Gorman (Swampscott, Mass.) assisting.

Sarah LeClair (Belchertown, Mass.) made six saves before giving way to Caitlin Greco (Higganum, Conn.) who made two saves in the win for the Lasers. Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux (East Brookfield, Mass.) made nine stops in net for the Rams.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 29th when they host MCLA in a MASCAC matchup. Prior to the contest the Rams will honor their seven seniors playing in their final season. The Lasers will host St. Joe's (ME) in the quarterfinal of the GNAC tournament on Sunday, October 30th at 1:00 p.m.
