Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 by UMass Boston in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.
With the win the Beacons improve to 3-10-2 while the Rams slip to 5-9.
Despite out shooting the Beacons by an 11-to-1 clip in the first half the two teams entered the break scoreless. The Beacons sole first half shot was a well executed one-time shot that took a diving save by Rams goalkeeper Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux (East Brookfield, Mass.) to keep the score even.
After a hard foul in the 57th minute resulting in a Rams player getting their second yellow card the Rams had to play a player down for the duration of the contest. Just seconds after the foul the Beacons gained possession and went for goal. Julia Masionis (Milford, Mass.) sent a strike that was saved by Gagne-Lamoureux but Masionis gathered her own rebound and a sent it past the Rams keeper.
Gagne-Lamoureux made four stops in the setback for the Rams while Alyssa Fugiel (Easthampton, Mass.) made ten saves in the shutout win for UMass- Boston.
The Rams dominated the offensive attack outshooting the Beacons 28-to-7 while take five corner kicks to the UMB 4 attempts.
The Rams return to action on Friday, October 21st when they travel to Mass. Maritime for a MASCAC matchup. The Beacons return to action on Saturday, October 22nd when they travel to Western Connecticut State.
